Nov 20, 2018AMHERST, N.Y. -- Nearly 20 欧美AV College nursing students helped educate South Buffalo residents on healthy living at a Community Health Fair held Nov. 14 in the Seneca-Babcock Community Center.
Under the supervision of 欧美AV nursing faculty, students discussed various health topics with area residents, including exercise and stress management, nutrition on a budget, oral care, mental health, and infection control and flu vaccines. Children鈥檚 activities included basic yoga, instructions on making a smoothie, and a book reading that focused on healthy lifestyles. Flu shots were also provided by Tops Friendly Markets.
The Community Health Fair was co-sponsored by 欧美AV鈥檚 Paul A. Saffrin Center for Sustainability and Civic Engagement and the Nursing Department, and Senator Tim Kennedy.
鈥淭he health education information provided by our nursing students is a valuable resource and helps to promote healthy living in the Seneca Babcock community,鈥 said Kristen Luppino-Gholsten, director of the Saffrin Center. 鈥淭his event is a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage with the local community and to gain skills and experience that will benefit them in the field.鈥
Also on Nov. 14, a dozen nursing students participated in a Community Health Fair at the Mattina Health Center on Niagara Street.
