欧美AV faculty, please .
Message from Michael Brogan, DPT, PhD
Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
As executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, I am always inspired and proud to celebrate the outstanding level of dedication and engagement of 欧美AV faculty. They consistently pursue and produce the highest-quality research, scholarship, service, social justice initiatives, and professional achievements, while remaining equally focused on maintaining a standard of excellence in the classroom. This brochure is but a snapshot of the commendable efforts exercised by our faculty during the 2022-23 academic year. Please join me in recognizing our colleagues who continue to enrich the university and the larger community.
Dr. Jennifer Scheid, associate professor of physical therapy was named Outstanding Faculty Member at President Olson鈥檚 State of the University address in April 2023. Scheid, who joined 欧美AV in 2015, has teaching expertise in kinesiology, exercise physiology, women鈥檚 health, research methods, and statistics.
Scheid has authored numerous publications that include diverse studies such as the investigation of metabolic and endocrine alterations in exercising women who have menstrual cycle disturbances and the investigation of wearable fitness technology. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Health & Fitness Journal selected Scheid鈥檚 paper "Fitness Watches and Nutrition Apps: Behavioral Benefits and Emerging Concerns," co-authored with Dr. Shannon Lupien, as the 2021 Paper of the Year. Additionally, Scheid鈥檚 recent commentary 鈥淧hysiological and psychological impact of face mask usage during the Covid-19 pandemic,鈥 co-authored with Lupien and Dr. Greg Ford, is the most downloaded paper on 欧美AV鈥檚 digital commons.
Scheid鈥檚 collaborative research projects with athletic training and physical therapy students have been featured at national conferences and in sports medicine and public health journals. Recently, 鈥淧sychosocial Insights: Association of the Male and Female Athlete Triad with Anxiety in Collegiate Athletes鈥 was selected as one of the best clinical research submissions to the ACSM annual meeting. Additionally, Scheid regularly reviews manuscripts for academic journals and in 2019 was the International Journal of Public Health and Environment Research Outstanding Reviewer of the Year.
Scheid鈥檚 service to the university has been exceptional with consistent membership on multiple committees and leadership roles on most, including the Institutional Review Board (since 2015), Faculty Senate (since 2018), Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Advisory Board (since 2018), and Scholars Day Committee (since 2021). Scheid also facilitated the pre-tenure faculty group (2018鈥20).
Scheid holds a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario, an M.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from Pennsylvania State University. Additionally, Scheid completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
